Drone Deal Agreement Signed

During a meeting in Estonia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy formalized a drone agreement with Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs. The discussions focused on Ukraine's air defense requirements and tightening sanctions against Russia's shadow fleet. Zelenskyy announced the signing on social media, highlighting the significance of this partnership.

"My first meeting with Latvia's new Prime Minister, Andris Kulbergs, produced a key outcome for both nations—we signed the Drone Deal. This agreement delivers concrete measures to enhance joint defense and co-production. It also leverages Ukraine's expertise and experience to strengthen our allies."

Zelenskyy further stressed that Ukraine seeks robust protection against Russian threats across every European region.

Sanctions Pressure on Russia Discussed

Separately, the leaders addressed intensifying sanctions against Russia. Zelenskyy stated: "We specifically talked about ramping up sanctions pressure on Russia, particularly targeting its shadow fleet. I am grateful for the excellent relations between our peoples and thank Latvia for all the support it has provided Ukraine throughout this war."

It is worth recalling that in late May, Zelenskyy announced a broader Drone Deal with the European Union, described as a major strategic agreement.

The Drone Deal signing marks a significant step in advancing defense cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia, likely strengthening Ukraine's ability to counter military threats. It also underscores continued Baltic support amid the ongoing war with Russia. The focus on air defense collaboration and tougher sanctions reflects Ukraine's strategic approach to regional security.

In light of this recent development, it's important to note that Ukraine has been actively pursuing a series of agreements under the Drone Deals initiative. These agreements aim to bolster its defense capabilities further and enhance cooperation with European allies.
