New Sanctions of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed decree No. 8/2026, which introduces new large-scale sanctions covering 95 individuals and 70 legal entities, mainly from the Russian Federation. These sanctions target enterprises that produce products for communication, electronic warfare, and microelectronics used by the Russian army.

The list of sanctions also includes industrial giants from the chemical, mining, and metallurgy sectors. The responsibility for overseeing the implementation of this decision is assigned to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has been instructed to inform partners in the European Union and the USA about the new restrictions being introduced as part of this sanctions policy.

Purpose of the Sanctions

These measures are part of Ukraine's efforts to counter aggression from Russia and support international security.

The introduction of new sanctions indicates a continuation of Ukraine's tough policy regarding economic pressure on Russia, especially in the context of military actions. Restrictions on enterprises supplying technologies for the army may significantly affect Russia's ability to sustain its military operations. This also emphasizes the importance of international coordination, as Ukraine seeks to engage international partners in a joint struggle against aggression.
