Imposition of sanctions by the President of Ukraine

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has signed two decrees that put into effect the decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine regarding sanctions. These restrictions affected 8 individuals and 40 legal entities, including citizens of Russia, Azerbaijan, Singapore, and New Zealand. The sanctions were synchronized with the United Kingdom, indicating international coordination of actions.

List of legal entities under sanctions

Among the legal entities against which sanctions have been imposed are companies from:

  • Russia
  • Hong Kong
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Thailand
  • Turkey
  • India
  • Singapore

In total, Ukraine has synchronized 14 packages of sanctions this year, confirming a systematic approach in combating threats to national security.

The imposed sanctions also comply with the UN Security Council resolutions regarding the situation in South Sudan. Eight individuals from the military leadership of this region were subject to sanctions.

Volodymyr Zelensky stated that 'the peace agreement regarding the end of the war does not imply an automatic lifting of sanctions against Russia.'

These sanctions reflect Ukraine's active position in combating external threats, as well as confirming its commitments to the international community in supporting stability and security in the region. Coordination of actions with the United Kingdom and compliance with UN resolutions indicate joint efforts to counter military aggressions and violations of international law. Importantly, the president emphasizes the duration of the sanctions as a component of the peace process, which may influence future negotiations regarding conflict resolution.
