Presidential Decrees and New Appointments
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a series of decrees promoting senior military commanders and appointing a new head of the delegation for European Union accession talks. These decisions come as Ukraine approaches the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion, a period marked by intense military and diplomatic efforts.
Military Promotions
Under decree No. 152/2026, Commander of the Air Assault Forces, Oleh Apostol, was promoted to Major General. Colonel Yaroslav Sydorov, head of the 17th Army Corps of the Operational Command South, was promoted to Brigadier General by decree No. 154/2026. Colonel Ruslan Shevchuk, commander of the 15th Army Corps of the Operational Command West, was also promoted to Brigadier General under decree No. 155/2026. Additionally, Colonel Pavlo Palisii was promoted to Brigadier General by decree No. 153/2026.
In a separate diplomatic move, Zelenskyy signed decree No. 157/2026, altering the composition of the delegation for EU accession negotiations. Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Taras Kachka, has been appointed as the new head of the delegation and chief negotiator. These steps are seen as crucial for strengthening Ukraine's military leadership and advancing its strategic goal of European integration amidst the ongoing conflict.
