A Message from Ukraine's President

On July 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky extended congratulations to the United States on its 250th birthday, emphasizing the strong partnership between the two nations and drawing parallels between their respective struggles for independence. In a statement shared on social media, he expressed gratitude to the American people for their support, particularly for military aid such as Javelin anti-tank missiles and Patriot air defense systems.

Shared Values and the Fight for Freedom

Zelensky highlighted that Ukraine is defending its sovereignty and right to happiness with the same hope and determination that Americans showed in their own fight for liberty. He quoted a passage from the U.S. Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

The Ukrainian leader also expressed confidence that joint efforts will lead to peace:

“Thank you, America! I am certain that if we stand together, we will surely achieve peace.”
