The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced the new commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – Anatoliy Kryvonoshenko. Zelensky emphasized the importance of developing Ukrainian combat aviation and air defense forces in effective cooperation.
'Today I appointed Lieutenant General Anatoliy Kryvonoshenko as the commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And the most important thing is that Ukrainian combat aviation and air defense forces continue to develop comprehensively and in effective interaction: the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the teams of our partners, and professional and caring experts who wish Ukraine strength and victory,'- Zelensky stated.
The President also noted that the strategy for the development of Ukrainian aviation spans 20 years. This year, 'Mirages' were delivered to Ukraine, the fleet of F-16s was expanded, and priorities were set for the integration of foreign equipment into the country's defense forces. The main goal of this transformation is to provide the state with a modern and powerful aviation component in the Defense Forces, which will help Ukraine become part of NATO forces and one of the strongest in Europe.
The experience and awards of the new commander
It is worth noting that Anatoliy Kryvonoshenko has extensive experience in the aviation field. He headed the 114th tactical aviation brigade on MiG-29 and commanded the air command 'Center'. For a significant military feat, President Zelensky awarded Kryvonoshenko the title of Hero of Ukraine and noted him with the 'Gold Star' order for successful activity in military affairs.
