Activity of Russian special services and its consequences
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported on the activity of Russian special services, which are trying to undermine Ukraine's strategic relations with partners, especially with the USA. Emphasizing the importance of this situation, Zelensky highlighted that Ukraine plans to provide a significant response to Russia's destructive actions. In his address, which took place at the end of the 1417th day of the war, the president noted that this is a strategic task for Ukraine.
Meeting in Paris and tightening sanctions
Zelensky emphasized that as part of countering the activity of Russian special services, discussions are underway to strengthen sanctions against the Russian energy sector. The movement in the U.S. Congress towards tightening sanctions on this sector has resumed, which could have significant repercussions for the Russian economy. The President of Ukraine noted that this concerns tougher restrictions on Russian oil.
Moreover, an important event was the meeting held on January 6 in Paris, where leaders of the 'coalition of the willing', countries supporting Ukraine, discussed security issues. The main goal of this meeting is the final coordination and signing of a document on long-term security guarantees for Ukraine. Thus, Ukraine continues its active policy of protecting its interests on the international stage, responding to threats from Russia.
The activity of Russian special services and their attempts to influence Ukraine's international relations underline the importance of external support for Kyiv. Strengthening sanctions against the Russian energy sector, as well as concluding security agreements with partners, may become key factors in Ukraine's further struggle for its independence.
