Zelenskyy Details Scale of Russian Attacks on Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has disclosed the staggering scale of Russian bombardments for the month of January and the past week. According to the President, the primary targets of these attacks continue to be Ukraine's energy grid, railway logistics, and civilian infrastructure. These relentless strikes aim to cripple the systems that sustain daily life and the economy.

In January alone, Russia deployed:

  • more than 6,000 attack drones;
  • approximately 5,500 guided aerial bombs;
  • 158 missiles of various types.
“In January alone, Russia launched over 6,000 attack drones, about 5,500 guided aerial bombs, and 158 missiles of various types against us. Almost all of these were aimed at our energy sector, railways, our infrastructure—everything that maintains a normal life.” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Furthermore, during the past week, Russian forces launched:

  • more than 980 attack drones;
  • nearly 1,100 guided aerial bombs;
  • two missiles.
“The strikes are ongoing. We are recording Russian attempts to destroy logistics and transport links between cities and communities. This is precisely why the need for air defense has not diminished.” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy

The intensity of ground combat remains high, with 338 clashes reported over the past day. The enemy's main objectives persist, focusing on:

  • the energy sector;
  • railway logistics;
  • facilities essential for normal civilian life.

These figures starkly highlight the intensity and deliberate focus of Russia's campaign against Ukraine's critical infrastructure, with severe consequences for civilians and the nation's economy. The escalating volume of attacks underscores the urgent and continuous need for international support, particularly in air defense systems, to protect Ukrainian cities and stabilize the region.
