Statement of the President of Ukraine
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, expressed the opinion that the USA could take measures against Ramzan Kadyrov, similar to what happened with Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela. In his view, such actions could force Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a peace deal with Ukraine. Zelensky urged international partners to work more actively towards achieving peace.
Operation in Venezuela
This year, on January 3, the USA conducted an operation in Venezuela, resulting in the detention of Nicolas Maduro. On January 5, Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were brought to court in New York. Maduro is accused of several criminal offenses related to drug trafficking and terrorism, with charges first brought in March 2020. After Maduro's removal, Delcy Rodríguez became the acting president of Venezuela.
Zelensky noted:
‘Washington must pressure Moscow, as they have the necessary tools’- emphasizing the importance of international support in achieving peace. He added:
‘We are doing absolutely everything for this’.
The statements of President Zelensky reflect Ukraine's desire to enhance international support in the fight against Russian aggression, particularly concerning individuals who support this regime. By highlighting the case of Maduro, Zelensky aims to show that similar actions can become an effective tool for influencing the Kremlin. This also indicates the importance of international cooperation in resolving conflicts and supporting democratic values worldwide.
