Statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a warning that Russia is preparing a new wave of attacks against critical infrastructure, specifically targeting water supply systems. In a statement released on March 2, 2026, he stressed that the enemy intends to strike logistics and water infrastructure to create further hardship for Ukraine. This warning comes as Russia has repeatedly targeted civilian infrastructure throughout the war.
'Russia is indeed preparing a new wave of attacks and will target infrastructure, logistics, and water supply. They want us to have specific problems with water,' Zelenskyy noted.
The President also emphasized the need for communities to respond to these challenges. 'Communities must focus on this challenge, and for our part, we must obtain more missiles for air defense,' he added. Zelenskyy underscored that Ukraine has grown stronger during the war. 'First, we are already stronger because we have endured this winter with you. And Russia understands that the energy terror occurred, but it did not break Ukraine,' he stated.
Security Guarantees and International Negotiations
Furthermore, the president announced that a document on security guarantees between Ukraine and the United States has been prepared. 'First of all, there are security guarantees between us and the United States. Our partners need to sign it. The document is ready. From this position, we will certainly appear stronger,' Zelenskyy remarked.
In this context, he also mentioned a planned meeting between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States in Abu Dhabi, noting uncertainty about its scheduling due to the escalating situation in the Middle East. Such diplomatic efforts are seen as crucial for Ukraine's long-term security.
President Zelenskyy's statement highlights the persistent threats from Russia in the ongoing conflict. The focus on water supply as a potential target underscores the critical importance of infrastructure systems for the survival of Ukrainian communities. Additionally, Ukraine's readiness to negotiate security agreements with the U.S. points to the nation's efforts to strengthen its international standing and seek allied support amid escalating hostilities. Developments in the region, including the potential Abu Dhabi meeting, could significantly impact the future dynamics between the involved countries.
