Ukraine's Stance on the War
In an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed the idea of using Russia's historical justifications as a basis for ending the war. He stressed that Ukraine must end the conflict as swiftly as possible and sees no value in rehashing old historical debates.
Zelenskyy has instructed his team of negotiators in Geneva to work on the details of a potential meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has also previously responded to a proposal from a Russian presidential aide, Yuri Ushakov, regarding a visit to Moscow.

Zelenskyy further stated that he sees no need to discuss historical causes raised in conversations with American officials, such as references to Peter the Great. He views these arguments merely as a tactic to prolong the process.
