Scale of Russian Military Strikes

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has provided data outlining the intensity of Russian military attacks on Ukraine over the past week. According to his report, Russian forces launched:

  • 1,770 strikes using attack drones,
  • more than 1,530 strikes with guided aerial bombs (KABs),
  • 86 missile attacks, including over 20 ballistic missiles.

Supply Chain for Military Components

Zelenskyy further highlighted that each of these ballistic missiles contains at least 60 foreign-made components, which are being supplied to Russia in violation of international sanctions. He stated that

“the networks for these supplies are known, and they must be dismantled,”
- Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He emphasized that if the world lacks sufficient air defense systems to protect against ballistic attacks, then Russia must be deprived of the ability to assemble these missiles in its factories. This ongoing procurement exposes a critical weakness in the global sanctions regime intended to cripple Russia's war machine.

The president's statement serves as a stark reminder of the complexities in halting the flow of military components to Russia, which undermines the effectiveness of international sanctions. It also underscores the urgent need for enhanced international cooperation in security and defense, as inadequate air defense directly leads to increased civilian casualties and destruction in Ukraine. The global community's response to these challenges will significantly influence the future trajectory of the conflict.
