Zelensky on Trump's meeting with Putin: He got what he wanted

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in an interview with journalist Marta Raddatz from ABC News that the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska satisfied the Russian leader. Zelensky expressed regret that Ukraine was not present at this meeting, as he believes Trump gave Putin what he wanted.


'Putin does not want to meet with me, but he really wanted to meet with the President of the United States to show everyone videos and pictures that he is there',
- explained the Ukrainian leader.

Zelensky also expressed confidence in the need for increased pressure on Russia from American and European allies to end the war. The President noted that it is important to stop the purchase of any energy resources from Russia, as some European partners continue to buy Russian oil and gas.


'This is the only way to stop the killer. We need to deprive him of weapons. Energy is his weapon',
- emphasized Zelensky.

The Ukrainian President expressed the position that security guarantees for Ukraine should be built on its own army. Zelensky is confident that Donald Trump wants to end the war, but stressed the importance of a just and lasting peace. Regarding victory, the President asserts that for Ukraine, victory lies in its survival, maintaining statehood, and independence from Russian aggression.
