Comments of the President of Ukraine on the meeting with Putin
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the possibility of a meeting with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, noting that Ukraine is ready for negotiations. However, he emphasized that Russia's actions must correspond to its words. Zelensky expressed concern about the discrepancies between the statements and actions of the Russian leader, pointing out that
“the messages and actions of Putin do not align with the 'peaceful rhetoric'”.
Zelensky also noted that the format of the meeting and the manner of reaching agreements are not fundamental for Ukraine.
“How to meet, in what format to agree – we do not care. We are ready”, he said. The President of Ukraine emphasized that it is important for the actions and words of the Russian leader to coincide.
Rapid work towards achieving peace
Moreover, Zelensky reported that after the return of Ukrainian advisors to Kyiv, there will be 'rapid work' on achieving peace. He believes it is important to focus on a constructive dialogue between the countries, but for this, Russia needs to show real steps towards peace.
Zelensky's statements indicate Ukraine's readiness for diplomatic initiatives in search of a peaceful resolution to the conflict; however, the emphasis on the correspondence of Russia's actions and words highlights a distrust of the Kremlin's intentions. This position is significant in the context of current international efforts aimed at resolving the crisis and demonstrates Ukraine's desire for constructive dialogue, which could become the basis for further negotiations.
