Ukrainian President Meets with Military and Government Officials

On January 15, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened a special energy sector meeting with Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and Air Force Commander Anatolii Kryvonozhko. The discussion focused on safeguarding the nation's energy facilities and assessing the current situation in Ukraine. This meeting comes as Ukraine's energy grid remains a critical target in the ongoing conflict.

Other participants in the meeting included:

  • Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko,
  • other government ministers,
  • representatives from the regional and local authorities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, and Chernihiv oblasts.

President Zelenskyy noted that the talks specifically highlighted the urgent requirements for defending energy infrastructure.

"We spoke with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the Air Force Commander about protecting energy facilities and about the needs we have," the president stated.

A New Operational Format

Zelenskyy also emphasized a new, daily operational format for coordination, stating:

"The day began with a special format – now it will be like this every day, everyone is in touch."
This approach is designed to enhance management efficiency and coordinate efforts in Ukraine's energy security sector.

The president's meeting with military and government officials underscores the heightened focus on energy security in Ukraine, particularly given the potential for escalated hostilities. The introduction of this daily coordination format aims to enable a faster response to threats and improve the protection of critical infrastructure. It also highlights the necessity for synchronized action across different branches of government under the current security conditions.
