Ukrainian troops have captured over 2200 Russian soldiers. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that most of them were captured during the Dobropilska operation in Dobropillia and Pokrovsk.
«Putin needed Dobropillia. And we did the right thing. If it weren't for our intervention, we know what the Russians would have done there. Over six months of 2025, we are holding 2200 Russian prisoners of war. They have suffered significant losses», - said the president.
A representative of the Coordinating Headquarters for the detention of prisoners of war said that the conditions of detention for Russian soldiers meet international standards, including the norms of the Geneva Conventions. It was also reported that the prisoners themselves prepare their food and grow vegetables, for which they receive a salary of approximately 300 hryvnias per month.
Ukrainian forces are holding over 2200 Russian soldiers in captivity following the Dobropilska operation. The conditions of detention meet international standards, and the prisoners themselves are engaged in food preparation and vegetable cultivation.
