On the evening of August 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the consequences of the attack on Lozova, where two people were killed and another 13 were injured, including two children. The city's infrastructure was damaged, but Ukrainian railway workers have already restored traffic.
'This is a specific tactic of terror – Russian terror. They direct several dozen 'shaheds' at one city, at one of our communities'
The focus was also on Donald Trump's proposal for an immediate ceasefire. Zelensky noted that previously concluded agreements with Russia had not worked, so he expressed support for the American leader's initiative.
'We in Ukraine fully support the American proposal for an immediate ceasefire. We have already tried many different formats to stop the fire, to stop the killings'
Zelensky also emphasized the importance of sanction pressure on Russia, especially in the area of Russian oil, and expressed gratitude for the military assistance provided. New decisions for the Ukrainian army were also announced – an increase in funding for the purchase of drones and pickups.
'We will definitely increase funding for brigades to directly purchase drones. By Monday, there should be a clear action plan for how brigades can also directly buy pickups – exactly what the brigades need'
In concluding his address, the President of Ukraine expressed confidence in the joint efforts of the global coalition to return abducted Ukrainian children, which includes 38 countries, the Council of Europe, and the European Union.
