Meeting of the Coalition of Willing: preparation and main topics
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced preparations for a meeting of the Coalition of Willing, which will take place on December 11. More than 30 countries will participate in the meeting. The main topics of discussion will be sanctions against Russia, as well as elections in Ukraine during the state of war.
Zelensky made the statement on December 10, noting that Ukraine will present its own sanctions package in December. Among the main areas of new measures are strengthening sanctions against Russian tankers and all infrastructure for transporting Russian oil.
“There will be more sanctions against Russian tankers, against all the infrastructure for transporting Russian oil,” the president emphasized.
Electoral issues during the state of war and international support
At the same time, he held a conversation with representatives of the Verkhovna Rada regarding the organization of elections in Ukraine during the state of war. Zelensky noted that the process is not simple, but emphasized the importance of avoiding external pressure:
“It is not easy, but we do not need any pressure. I will not allow speculation against Ukraine.”
He also expressed concern about sovereignty, noting that in Russian history, no one has ever surrendered sovereignty so strongly in favor of China or any other stronger nation.
The meeting of the Coalition of Willing promises to be an important stage in international cooperation to support Ukraine in its struggle against aggression and to determine further steps in restoring peace.
Preparations for the meeting of the Coalition of Willing indicate the activation of international efforts to support Ukraine, which is particularly important against the backdrop of Russia's ongoing aggression. The focus on sanctions against Russian tankers could increase pressure on the aggressor's economy and reduce its ability to finance the war. At the same time, the issue of organizing elections during the state of war reflects the complexity of Ukraine's internal politics, which needs to consider the security and sovereignty of the state in the context of external threats.
