National Security and Defense Council Session Announced
As Ukraine continues to face relentless attacks on its critical infrastructure, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for a National Security and Defense Council meeting to address shortcomings in regional resilience plans. The session, scheduled for next week, will focus on implementing these plans across the country. A total of 67.8 billion hryvnias from the state budget and 9.6 billion from local budgets have been allocated for these initiatives. The president also stressed the need to deploy additional personnel for protective construction work in frontline and border communities.
During a separate meeting with Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky and Infrastructure Minister Mykola Kalashnyk, Zelenskyy discussed the challenges faced by the railway system due to enemy attacks. "We talked today with Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky and Minister of Infrastructure Mykola Kalashnyk," the president stated. He added that "unfortunately, a lot has not been done in the regions. Each region must catch up."
Funding Plans and Schedules
The tenth meeting of the Coordination Center also took place, where heads of regional military administrations were instructed to prepare detailed, step-by-step plans and funding schedules. Prime Minister Koretsky convened relevant ministries and services because of inadequate progress on the resilience plans.
"We expect a real picture by the end of the week," said Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky.
Oversight of plan implementation will be continuous. Zelenskyy has also ordered more forces for defensive work in frontline and border areas, specifically on roads and infrastructure facilities. In preparation for winter, Kyiv submitted an updated Resilience Plan. Relevant agencies are working to secure additional financing from international partners, which could improve the situation in the regions.
The upcoming NSDC meeting and the announced plans reflect the government's stepped-up efforts to bolster infrastructure and security in Ukraine, particularly amid the ongoing conflict. The allocation of significant funds from state and local budgets, combined with the search for international funding, highlights the importance of supporting regions affected by military operations. These measures are expected to influence the country's stability and development in the face of current challenges.
