Meeting of the President of Ukraine with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Shoof, in Berlin on December 15-16. During the negotiations, the leaders discussed important issues related to defense support for Ukraine and the establishment of a compensation commission.
The Netherlands provided Ukraine with a defense package worth 700 million euros. As part of this package, the PURL program was introduced, which involves the procurement of American weapons. In addition, cooperation between Ukraine and the Netherlands in the field of defense production is ongoing, particularly in the production of drones.
Establishment of an International Compensation Commission
Zelensky also announced the establishment of an International Compensation Commission for Ukraine. According to him, this commission will consider claims for damages and losses caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine. He emphasized that justice is as important as peace.
'These are necessary things, and primarily they are rockets for air defense, other weapons that are not available in Europe and that we can currently only purchase.' - Volodymyr Zelensky
At the same time, he added that 'this war and Russia's responsibility for it must serve as a clear example for others to understand that aggression should not be chosen.'
The meeting between the Ukrainian president and the Dutch prime minister took place against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, highlighting the importance of international support for Kyiv. The defense package from the Netherlands, as well as the creation of a compensation commission, could become significant steps in strengthening security and stability in the region. Cooperation between the countries in defense production also indicates the increasing integration of Ukraine into European security structures.
