On January 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a conversation with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during which diplomatic actions and the need for a just resolution regarding the frozen funds from the sale of the 'Chelsea' football club were discussed. The sum of £2.5 billion, which could be used to support Ukraine, became the central topic of the discussion.

At the meeting, which took place on January 3, 18 participants from Europe also took part. It is important to note that the first session of a large-scale meeting with national advisors from 15 countries around the world is planned for January 3, 2026, indicating the longevity and seriousness of international efforts in this direction.

Importance of cooperation with the United Kingdom

Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of cooperation with the United Kingdom, stating:

He also expressed gratitude for Keir Starmer's leadership and for the support from Britain, stressing that 'such entirely just decisions can strengthen Ukrainian resilience and our shared aspiration with Britain and many others around the world for peace.'
