Meeting of the President of Ukraine and the President of the USA

On December 28, 2025, a meeting took place at Mar-a-Lago between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump. The main topic of discussion was the peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine with the participation of European leaders. During the three-hour negotiations, Zelensky reported that 90% of the points in the 20-point peace plan had already been agreed upon.

The meeting also covered issues related to support for Ukraine from the international community. Finnish President Alexander Stubb reported on a phone conversation that lasted over an hour. An important aspect of the discussion was the confirmation that over 90% of military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the war has passed through the airport in Rzeszów, as noted by Polish President Karol Nawrocki.

Negotiating groups and future steps

It is expected that the negotiating groups will meet next week for the final discussion of all issues related to the peaceful resolution. Final decisions on the peace settlement documents are planned to be made in January 2026. Karol Nawrocki emphasized the importance of involving all interested parties in decision-making about peace and security in the region. Dutch Prime Minister Schoof stated that now Russia must demonstrate its willingness to end the war and engage in serious negotiations for a just and lasting peace.

The meeting between Zelensky and Trump took place against the backdrop of an intensification of international efforts for the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. The agreement on a significant portion of the peace plan is an important step towards ending the war. The importance of the participation of European leaders and the confirmed support from the USA indicate global interest in stability in the region and the readiness of the international community for active actions to achieve peace.
