Negotiations between Zelensky and Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the peace plan and security guarantees with American leader Donald Trump during negotiations that took place on December 28 in the USA. As a result of the meeting, Ukraine and the USA reached 90% agreement on a joint settlement plan consisting of 20 points.

Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the sixth document discussed during the meeting is the very plan proposed for agreement.

“Of our six documents, the sixth document is the plan we propose for discussion,” he said.
The President of Ukraine also emphasized the importance of an open format for the meeting, stating that he is not afraid of any format:
“I am not afraid of any format of our meeting. The main thing is that the 'Russians' are not afraid.”

Activation of diplomatic efforts

Donald Trump, for his part, expressed his willingness to visit Ukraine and speak before the Verkhovna Rada if it would help stop the war.

“I am ready to visit Ukraine and speak before the Verkhovna Rada if such a step would help stop the war,” he stated.

The meeting between Zelensky and Trump demonstrates the activation of diplomatic efforts by Ukraine and the USA on the issues of peaceful settlement of the conflict. Both leaders expressed hope for further progress in the implementation of the joint plan.

This meeting underscores the importance of international support for Ukraine in the context of the ongoing conflict. The joint plan that both sides strive to reach could become the basis for further negotiations and the settlement of the situation in the region. The willingness of President Trump to visit Ukraine is also important, as it may indicate the growing activity of the USA on security issues in Eastern Europe.
