Meeting between the Presidents of Ukraine and the USA

The meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump took place at Mar-a-Lago, Florida. Although the results of the negotiations were not significant, the parties agreed on the next meeting, which is scheduled for next month.

During the meeting, Trump rejected strict deadlines for ending the war, stating that

“I have no deadlines”
. He also emphasized that the process of achieving peace is complicated, saying:
“This is not a one-day process. These are very complicated things”
. Trump had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin before meeting Zelensky, which reportedly led to the breakdown of agreements on providing Ukraine with long-range missiles in October.

Prospects for Negotiations

Zelensky, for his part, stated that the peace plan is ready by '90 percent'. Trump noted that the parties are 'approaching an agreement' on territorial issues; however, he characterized the term 'agreement' as 'too strong'.

The next round of negotiations promises to be an important step in relations between Ukraine and the USA, as well as in resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

This meeting, although it did not bring concrete results, demonstrates the continuation of dialogue between Ukraine and the USA, which is important for the region's stability. Amid the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, the efforts of both presidents are aimed at finding ways to peace, albeit with different assessments of the complexity of this process. The next meeting could be a critical moment for further developments and possible compromises in the negotiations.
