Meeting of the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland
On December 19, 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Polish President Karol Navrotsky in Warsaw. The main topics of discussion during the negotiations included:
- security issues;
- sanctions against Russia;
- economic support for Ukraine;
- historical issues.
Warsaw has allocated approximately €25 billion in aid to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of ensuring that
“Russia should not gain any benefits from this war”. He also stressed that
“Poland's presence at the negotiating table is very important”, pointing to the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland in the context of ensuring security in the region. Poland actively participates in 12 meetings of the 'Coalition of the Willing', indicating its readiness to support Ukraine in this difficult time.
Additionally, during the meeting, Karol Navrotsky expressed the opinion that “Trump is the only president in the world who is willing to make Putin sign peace”. This underscores the importance of international politics and support from other countries in the process of achieving peace in the region. The total amount of economic support that Ukraine has received from the European Union amounts to about €90 billion, which is a crucial factor for the stability of the Ukrainian economy in light of current challenges.
