Negotiations between Ukraine and the USA

President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that he is negotiating with Donald Trump regarding the deployment of US troops in Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of American military assistance for the Ukrainian army, noting that without US support, it will be difficult for Ukraine to overcome Russia's aggression. Zelensky stressed that the Ukrainian army is actively using American weaponry.

Zelensky also noted that the US has decisions regarding its troops in Europe. According to him,

‘These are US troops and therefore America makes such decisions. Of course, we discuss this with President Trump and representatives of the 'coalition of the determined'. We would like this. It would be a strong position in security guarantees’
.

Additionally, the Ukrainian president emphasized the importance of American weapons for Ukraine's success in the war.

‘We use some weapons that we buy in America, some shells, artillery, etc. from Americans. Without this, we cannot win’
. These negotiations are taking place against the backdrop of the US military department's budget project, which includes a ban on reducing the number of American troops in Europe to less than 76 thousand people for more than 45 days.

The strategic role of American support

The significance of the negotiations between Ukraine and the USA under Zelensky’s leadership indicates the strategic role of American support in the context of the conflict with Russia. Considering the military challenges faced by Ukraine, active US involvement in ensuring security can significantly impact the balance of power in the region.

The maintenance of the number of American troops in Europe also underscores Washington's desire to support stability in this important geopolitical space.
