Presidential Visit to a Medical Facility
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy traveled to a hospital in the Rivne region, where he met with injured servicemen and presented them with state honors. These soldiers defended the nation on multiple frontlines:
- Kharkiv
- Kherson
- Dnipro
- Donetsk
They also took part in the Kursk operation and distinguished themselves during assaults in the Zaporizhzhia direction. While holding back enemy forces near Kupiansk, they suffered multiple shrapnel wounds and severe musculoskeletal injuries.
Awards and Gratitude for the Defenders
Zelenskyy awarded the soldiers with the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Third Class, as well as the Order for Courage, Second and Third Classes. During the meeting, the president expressed his appreciation to the defenders:
'We are deeply grateful for your service and for protecting our country. I wish you a speedy recovery and rehabilitation.' — Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Earlier, on May 22, President Zelenskyy was in the Rivne region for a working visit, where he held a meeting with community leaders from three oblasts. That discussion focused on defending the northern border in light of existing threats. 'We spoke with community leaders, including about protecting this northern direction. Yesterday, we were with communities from Chernihiv and Kyiv oblasts; today, we are in this part of our country,' the president added.
This visit to a medical facility in the Rivne region underscores the importance of supporting soldiers wounded in the line of duty. The award ceremony symbolizes recognition of their courage and dedication in the fight for the country's independence. Such meetings also serve as a reminder of the ongoing conflict and its toll on those who defend the state.
The discussion of northern border defense during Zelenskyy's working visit highlights the continued emphasis on security in regions facing threats from the adversary, as well as the critical need for cooperation between state authorities and local communities to build effective protection mechanisms.
In addition to recognizing the bravery of wounded soldiers, President Zelenskyy has been actively addressing critical military issues. Recently, he visited the 67th Brigade, where he discussed the ongoing shell shortage affecting frontline operations. Understanding the challenges faced by our defenders is crucial, especially in light of the current conflict.
