President Zelensky's Statement

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has affirmed his country's willingness to uphold the energy ceasefire declared by US President Donald Trump. However, Zelensky points out that Russia has failed to honor the terms of this truce. His remarks came following a briefing from Ukraine’s negotiation team, which recently held discussions in the United States. This report was based on daily communications with the American president’s team.

Ongoing Attacks on Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure

Zelensky highlighted that strikes on Ukraine’s energy facilities continue unabated.

“Unfortunately, our energy sector was hit again yesterday, and these assaults are ongoing today. Air raid alarms have sounded across Ukraine all day, with Russian drones and aerial bombs still being deployed,”
he said. He added that if these attacks are Russia’s response to the US president’s ceasefire announcement, it shows that Moscow has squandered another chance to move closer to peace.

The Ukrainian president emphasized the importance of sustained pressure from Washington on Russia, stating, "pressure on Russia is essential." Kyiv remains engaged in talks with US officials at multiple levels, working to define the next steps and diplomatic frameworks needed to resolve the conflict.

"Ukraine is prepared to take real actions and de-escalation measures to bring this war to an end,"
Zelensky concluded.

These statements underscore the critical situation in Ukraine, where energy infrastructure faces relentless attacks from Russian forces. Despite ongoing aggression, Ukraine’s readiness to participate in a peace process centered on an energy ceasefire reflects its commitment to a diplomatic solution. The role of the United States in applying pressure on Russia could prove pivotal as Ukraine seeks continued international support to enhance its security and regional stability.
