Meeting with Ihor Klymenko
During a recent meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed that Ihor Klymenko become the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. A formal decree for the appointment is currently being prepared. Klymenko, who previously served within the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, will continue his work in the realm of state protection.
President Zelenskyy emphasized that the key priorities of this new role are:
- coordinating between all components of the security and defense sector;
- ensuring daily oversight of the implementation of decisions.
“The main thing is the most effective coordination among all elements in the security and defense sector, along with daily monitoring of how decisions are carried out,” the president stated.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring that “every decision made by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief is fully implemented on time.”
Key Focus Areas for Ihor Klymenko
A specific priority for Ihor Klymenko will be coordinating defense production efforts. President Zelenskyy noted that “the government of Ukraine, our Defense and Security Forces, and the entire system of state institutions must operate exactly as needed to achieve the country's defined goals.” Wrapping up the meeting, the president thanked Klymenko for his service, saying, “Thank you for your service to Ukraine!”
Klymenko is now preparing to take on these new responsibilities, which aim to strengthen the nation's security and defense capabilities.
