Security guarantees for Ukraine

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky proposed Donald Trump long-term security guarantees for Ukraine for a period of 30-50 years, with a minimum possibility of 15 years. The negotiations held in Florida concluded with the announcement of a significant diplomatic breakthrough between the parties.

Zelensky noted that the issue of security has become particularly relevant given the prolonged war.

“I raised this issue with the president. I told him that we are already in a war that has been going on for almost 15 years. So we would really like the guarantees to be longer. And I told him that we would really like to consider the possibility of 30, 40, 50 years,” the president of Ukraine noted.

Results of the negotiations

As a result of the negotiations, there was a 100% agreement on support from the USA. In addition, joint guarantees from the USA and Europe were agreed upon at 90%. Donald Trump also expressed his willingness to visit Kyiv and speak in the Verkhovna Rada, highlighting the importance of bilateral relations between Ukraine and the United States.

This step indicates the strengthening of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States, especially in the context of the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine. Long-term security guarantees could provide Ukraine with additional support in its struggle for sovereignty and also contribute to stability in the region. Trump's visit to Kyiv may become an important symbol of support from the USA and emphasize the commitment to protect Ukraine's territorial integrity.
