Ukrainian President Meets with Negotiating Team

On February 7, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received a report from his nation's negotiating team following their meetings with representatives from the United States and Russia. The briefing covered the current state of document preparation required to end the war and assessed the likelihood of further meetings in the near future. These diplomatic efforts come as international pressure mounts for a resolution to the ongoing conflict.

Zelenskyy stressed the critical importance of active involvement from international partners in the peace process.

“Ukraine did not start this war, and it is Russia that must end it. It is vital that our partners remain active, work for peace alongside us, and consider all realistic proposals,” the President stated.
He also emphasized the need for tangible progress:
“I believe more progress is necessary. I have outlined the framework for further dialogue to the team, and we are developing a schedule for the required steps.”

Ukraine's Plans for Engaging International Partners

Furthermore, Ukraine intends to brief its European partners on the current status of the talks and the realistic prospects for the process. This information is deemed crucial for coordinating next steps within the framework of the peace negotiations.

The President's meeting with his negotiators signals an intensification of diplomatic efforts to find a path toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The emphasis on the role of international partners underscores the necessity of collective action to achieve stability in the region. Continued dialogue between Ukraine and Russia, with the engagement of the U.S. and other nations, could prove to be a pivotal element in resolving the current situation and bringing the war to an end.
