Zelenskyy Receives Abu Dhabi Negotiations Report, Sets Next Trilateral Meeting for February 1st

Зеленський отримав звіт про перемовини з Абу-Дабі та оголосив дату наступної тривалої зустрічі на 1 лютого.

Key Events in Ukraine on January 26

On January 26, Russian military forces launched attacks on the Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv and Kryvyi Rih. In Kharkiv, assaults were carried out using drones and missiles, while in Kryvyi Rih, a Russian drone struck a residential apartment building. The attack in Kryvyi Rih prompted the immediate launch of emergency rescue operations.

That same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received a report from the Ukrainian delegation returning from talks in Abu Dhabi. Zelenskyy announced that the next trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States is scheduled for February 1st.

"Today we received a full report from our delegation—the team returned after the trilateral meetings. For the first time in a long while, the format included the Americans and Russians again. They managed to discuss various issues, mostly of a military nature—those concerning steps to end the war and establish real control and monitoring. There are matters that need to be prepared for the next meeting," stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Other Significant Developments

Also on January 26, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court reviewed a ruling concerning a bail measure set at 33.2 million hryvnias for Yulia Tymoshenko. In a separate international development, Austrian parliamentarian Petra Bayr was elected as the new President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, securing 164 votes in the first round of voting.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed laws extending martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine. These measures are part of the state's ongoing efforts to ensure security and stability amid the continuing armed conflict. The extension of these wartime provisions is a routine but critical parliamentary procedure for Ukraine's defense.

These events illustrate the intense situation in Ukraine, where military actions persist alongside continued diplomatic efforts. The planned meeting between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States aims to discuss pathways toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict, highlighting the crucial role of international dialogue during wartime. Simultaneously, domestic issues such as anti-corruption proceedings remain a priority, demonstrating Ukraine's commitment to maintaining the rule of law and internal stability even under extreme duress.
