Historic Meeting Between the Presidents of Ukraine and South Korea

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung held their first-ever bilateral talks. The landmark meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two nations, with both leaders discussing key areas of mutual interest.

Zelenskyy expressed his satisfaction with the encounter, stating:

“I met with Mr. President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae-myung. I am glad about our first meeting.”
He also emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to forging a productive partnership, adding:
“We are interested in productive relations with South Korea, and today we talked about what is needed for both our countries.”

$100 Million Support Package for Ukraine

During the summit, a decision was made to allocate $100 million as part of a comprehensive support package for Ukraine. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting: “I am grateful for the recent decision to allocate $100 million for a comprehensive support package for our country.” He also instructed his team to follow up on all matters discussed, saying: “I instructed the team to work through everything we discussed today.”

This meeting marks a significant milestone in Ukraine–South Korea relations, particularly as international backing for Ukraine continues to grow. The $100 million financial commitment underscores Seoul’s willingness to actively contribute to Ukraine’s stability and development, which could have a positive impact on the country’s economic outlook.
