Ukraine’s President Meets UAE Leader
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently held talks with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France. During the summit, Zelensky also sat down with U.S. President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. These high-level discussions underscore Ukraine’s diplomatic push to strengthen alliances amid ongoing global tensions.
The conversation with the UAE leader focused on mutual support and cooperation. Zelensky noted:
“I was very pleased to see President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates. It is important that we stay in close, practical communication. We wish peace and security for every nation and leader who helps us in Ukraine.”
He added, “Ukraine stood by the UAE and other Gulf nations in difficult times. We are ready to continue working together to make our people stronger. Thank you for your respect toward Ukraine and Ukrainians!”
G7 Collaboration and Security Talks
On the sidelines of the G7 summit, an official working session titled 'Building Peace and Security for Ukraine and Europe' wrapped up. The first multilateral meeting in the 'G7 – Ukraine' format also took place, highlighting the deepening partnership between Ukraine and the G7 countries.
Zelensky also met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, supplying air defense systems and missiles, the battlefield situation, and the results of Ukraine’s long-range strikes. These engagements reflect Ukraine’s active diplomatic efforts on the global stage and its push to bolster regional security.
