Earthquake in Kamchatka: Tsunami wave reached the US coast

A powerful earthquake near Russia's Kamchatka triggered a high wave that reached Hawaii and the US coast, including California and Washington. According to NBC News, this happened after one of the strongest earthquakes in history, but fortunately, the consequences were less than expected.



A tsunami warning was lifted for some areas from the California-Mexico border to Rincon Point, but remained in effect for the area from Rincon Point north to the Humboldt/Del Norte line, including San Francisco Bay.



Waves of 3-4 meters were recorded on the eastern coast of Kamchatka. Japan and Hawaii declared evacuations of coastal areas.


As a result of the earthquake near Kamchatka, there were reported consequences in Japan and Hawaii. On the coast of Tateyama City in Japan, four whales were found stranded after the powerful earthquake. This is already the sixth strongest earthquake in history, and the tsunami it triggered affected parts of the Kuril Islands, northern Japanese island Hokkaido, and Hawaii.


The earthquake near Russia's Kamchatka caused a tsunami that affected Hawaii's coast and some US coastal states. Japan and Hawaii's rescue services immediately responded to the disaster, evacuating coastal areas. Despite the devastating consequences in some regions, the situation overall was not as critical as anticipated.
