Car expert Maxim Dembrivskyi recommends checking before purchase:
-
tread depth, aiming for over 4 mm;
-
the production date from the last four digits of the DOT code;
-
absence of cracks, bulges, deep cuts, and damage to the cord;
-
even wear;
-
winter marking with the mountain and snowflake symbol;
-
size matching the manufacturer's recommendations for the car.
The M+S designation alone is not enough to assess the suitability of the tire for winter conditions. The actual condition of the rubber is important for safety on winter roads, so offers should be compared based on age, wear, and performance, not just price.
