A Mother's Newborn Hope After Drone Strike Kills Husband and Three Children

Надія матері після трагедії: нове життя в часи війни.

Tragedy Strikes Bohodukhiv

Olha Krivohub, a resident of Bohodukhiv, has given birth to a daughter, Kateryna, following a devastating loss. Olha, who survived a Russian drone strike on her home on February 10th, lost her husband and three children in the attack. She and her newborn are currently in a maternity ward. Viktor Kovalenko, head of the Zolochiv settlement military administration, stated that

"she gave birth, everything is fine. Both mother and baby are feeling well."

Details of the Attack

The tragedy occurred around 11:30 p.m. on February 10th when the Russian army attacked Bohodukhiv with a strike drone. Preliminary reports indicate the drone was a 'Geran-2' model, which crashed into the house where the family of five lived. The strike resulted in the deaths of:

  • Three children: a one-year-old girl and two-year-old twin boys;
  • Their 34-year-old father, Hryhorii, a veteran who had fought in the Kupiansk and Zaporizhzhia sectors, where he lost a leg.

Olha was 35 weeks pregnant at the time of the attack and was hospitalized. After the tragedy, she moved to Skovorodynivka in the Zolochiv community. According to Viktor Kovalenko,

"She has a sister there, the family home. Her husband's brothers and sisters are there. She is not alone."
The family had recently moved to a purchased house in Bohodukhiv; they previously lived in Nova Vodolaha, and Olha's husband was only registered in Skovorodynivka. The house where the tragedy occurred was completely destroyed and caught fire.

This incident underscores the horrific human cost of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, where civilian areas are frequently targeted. The loss of an entire family to military aggression leaves profound scars on survivors. Olha Krivohub's situation highlights the critical need for sustained support for victims and the importance of international efforts to restore peace and security. While her community is rallying to support her, rebuilding a life after such a tragedy will require immense time and resilience.
