Ukraine's Women's Basketball Team Faces Crucial March 2026 Qualifiers

Команда жінок з баскетболу України готується до вирішальних відборів у березні 2026 року.

Ukraine Women's National Team Schedule

The Ukraine women's national basketball team will play three critical fixtures in March 2026 as part of the second qualification window for EuroBasket Women 2027. The team currently holds second place in its group, having won two of its first three qualifying matches. Only the top two teams from the group, along with the best third-place finishers from across the qualifiers, will advance to the next stage.

The campaign begins with a match against Montenegro on March 11, 2026, at 7:00 PM Kyiv time, which will be hosted in Riga, Latvia. The team will then face a busy schedule on the road:

  • March 14, 2026 - A game against Bulgaria in Plovdiv.
  • March 17, 2026 - A final qualifying match against Azerbaijan in Baku.

Ukraine Men's National Team

Meanwhile, the Ukraine men's national team is competing in its own qualification process for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Their current record stands at one win and two losses in the latest phase of the tournament. In the fourth qualifying round, the Ukrainian side fell to Spain with a score of 78:64, following a previous 66:86 defeat to the same opponent in the third round. However, the team secured a significant 88:71 victory over Denmark in the second round of this qualification stage.

Earlier in the World Cup 2027 qualifiers, the men's team opened their campaign with a 79:92 win over Georgia.

The importance of these qualifying matches for both national teams cannot be overstated, as they are pivotal for player development and for elevating the profile of Ukrainian basketball globally.

Success for the women's team could provide additional inspiration for the men's squad as they seek to improve their own results in upcoming games. These competitions are critically important not only for achieving sporting objectives but also for boosting national morale and promoting basketball within Ukraine.
