Ukraine's Women's National Team Prepares for Deciding Fixtures

The Ukrainian women's basketball team is entering a critical phase of preparation for the decisive qualifying matches for EuroBasket 2027, scheduled for March 2026. The squad will assemble in Riga on March 7, 2026, to begin their final training camp ahead of the last window of the qualification tournament. Their first match is set for March 11, 2026, at 7:00 PM Kyiv time, where they will face Montenegro at the Rimi Olympic Centre in Riga, Latvia.

Their subsequent qualifying fixtures are as follows:

  • On March 14, 2026, in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, against the Bulgarian national team;
  • On March 17, 2026, in Baku, Azerbaijan, against the Azerbaijani national team.

Following the first qualification window, the Ukrainian women's team holds second place in their group, having secured two victories from three matches played. These upcoming games are pivotal for the team's ambition to secure a spot in the final European championship tournament. The team's current standing makes every point crucial in the highly competitive European qualification process.

Ukraine's Men's National Team Progress

Simultaneously, Ukraine's men's national team is also making strides on the international stage. The team recently secured an 88:71 victory over Denmark in the qualification rounds for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup. After two matches, the men's squad is positioned among the top two teams in its group. Their next qualification window is scheduled for February 2026.

Thus, both Ukrainian national teams are intensifying their preparations for matches that will define their future prospects in international basketball.

These fixtures carry immense significance for both squads, as strong performances in the qualifiers could pave the way for participation in prestigious global tournaments.

With the women's team currently in second place, each of their three remaining games could prove decisive for their EuroBasket hopes. Meanwhile, the consistent results from the men's team underscore the growing competitiveness of Ukrainian basketball worldwide.
