At the European Basketball Championship, the U16 women's national team of Ukraine suffered a defeat to Sweden with a score of 52:76. The Ukrainian girls could not perform well in the first half of the game, and even though they tried to catch up in the third quarter, it did not help them in the end. A major issue was the losses in rebounds and free throws, which exceeded those of their Swedish rivals, giving them the advantage to secure victory.
First of all, Ukraine lost the rebound battle - 45 to 70, resulting in a second-chance points deficit of 4:16, while the Swedish team executed 25 more free throws with nearly equal efficiency.
Taisiya Danileiko was the most effective player on the Ukrainian team, scoring 16 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists. In the next match, our Ukrainian athletes will play for the 15-16 places against the winner of the Austria - Norway pair.
Meanwhile, the men's national team of Ukraine maintains the lead in the pre-qualification for the 2027 World Championship, having achieved a significant victory over Slovakia and Switzerland.
