Oleksandr Pishchur Jr. Joins Girona

Spanish club Girona has finalized a deal to sign Ukrainian forward Oleksandr Pishchur Jr. from Hungarian side Gyor. The transfer, valued at one million euros, will be completed during the upcoming off-season following several months of protracted negotiations. A potential move for Pishchur had previously fallen through during the winter transfer window.

The 21-year-old Pishchur will become the fourth Ukrainian player on Girona's roster. This Spanish side has become a notable destination for Ukrainian talent in recent years. The current squad already includes:

  • Goalkeeper Vladyslav Krapyvtsov
  • Winger Viktor Tsyhankov
  • Forward Vladyslav Vanat

Striker Artem Dovbyk also featured for Girona during the 2023/24 season. Pishchur, the son of former footballer Oleksandr Pishchur, has scored five goals in 32 appearances across all competitions this season.

Updates from Ukraine's Youth National Team

In other news involving Ukrainian prospects, youth national team goalkeeper Maksym Voronov has signed a new contract with Brazilian club Atletico Paranaense, which will keep him at the club until the end of 2029. The 19-year-old has yet to make his senior team debut.

Additionally, Ukrainian national team forward Vladyslav Vanat has seen his season cut short due to a hamstring injury. His recovery is estimated to take 10-12 weeks, with a return to play expected at the start of the next campaign.

The acquisition of Oleksandr Pishchur Jr. by Girona highlights the increasing visibility of Ukrainian footballers at prominent European clubs, a trend that reflects positively on the development pathways for young talent in Ukraine.
