Comments from US President Donald Trump regarding 'land exchanges' have caused a stir among the residents of Alaska, as some of them interpreted that the American leader is handing over the state to Russia.

Before the meeting between Trump and Putin on Friday in Anchorage, local residents are coming up with various theories about the conclusion of this historic event. Ess Brown, a resident of Anchorage, believes that 'the upcoming meeting has led to a multitude of conspiracy theories. Especially regarding President Trump's ambiguous statements about 'land exchange.' The craziest one: we will be handed over to Russia to end the war in Ukraine.'

Previously, Trump suggested that a land exchange could take place during negotiations regarding Ukraine. According to him, Washington will attempt to return some territories to Kyiv, but the agreement must be beneficial for both sides.

Journalists from Der Spiegel note that such a scenario could evoke various reactions. While for Putin, it could be a step towards restoring former great power influence, for Alaska residents like Pam Cravez, such negotiations do not appear too vague due to the history of Russian adventurers in these lands.

In light of the preparations for the Trump-Putin meeting, it is noteworthy that even slight hints at possible land exchanges can spark lively discussions and various interpretations among residents of those regions that could potentially be the subject of such agreements. All of this reflects the high tension in international relations and the significance of each word spoken by heads of state during such negotiations.
