Energy infrastructure inspections in Zhytomyr region

In 2024, the State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision conducted inspections that revealed large-scale violations in electricity distribution, particularly in the Zhytomyr region. Timely identified issues affected the quality of electricity supply, where Zhytomyr received electricity around the clock, while the rest of the region experienced outages for 20 hours. This situation raised concerns among local residents and authorities.

Situation in other cities

Compared to Zhytomyr, the situation in other cities was less favorable. In Dnipro, outages lasted 4-6 hours, in Kamianske – 22 hours, and in Kryvyi Rih – 18-20 hours. This indicates serious problems in the energy infrastructure that require urgent solutions. The government has already adopted four decisions aimed at improving the electricity supply situation in the regions.

Oleg Popenko, a representative of the State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision, noted that the company 'Zhytomyroblenergo' refused to allow representatives of the State Energy Supervision to enter the dispatch service. He also emphasized that despite the assurances of the mayor Sukhomlyn that issues with energy supply have been resolved, the reality turned out to be quite different:

‘It turned out that they have not overcome anything.’ — Oleg Popenko

The identified violations in the distribution of electricity in the Zhytomyr region cast doubt on the effectiveness of energy infrastructure management in the region. Given the increasing demands for reliable electricity supply, especially during the winter period, the situation requires urgent response from government bodies. Government decisions can be the first step in restoring local residents' trust in the electricity supply system, but to achieve stability, it is important to implement comprehensive reforms and ensure control over their execution.
