Ukrainians are banned from surrendering these types of scrap metal: fines up to 51 thousand hryvnias

The activity of collecting and selling scrap metal is quite profitable, but not every type of scrap metal can be surrendered without consequences. Violation of these rules is punishable by fines, explain the experts at News.LIVE.



In particular, in 2025 it is prohibited to surrender:



  • railway rails, sleepers;

  • tombstones, memorial plaques;

  • weapons, ammunition and their parts;

  • objects of historical or cultural value;

  • elements with radioactive or toxic substances.



It is also important to have documents when it comes to disposing of personal property, such as a car. Failure to comply with legislation may lead to imprisonment. In case of selling stolen metal, fines or imprisonment are provided.



Ukraine is implementing new bans on the surrender of scrap metal; it is important to comply with the legislation to avoid negative consequences. These measures are aimed at preventing illegal trade in scrap metal and preserving the historical and cultural values of the country.
