According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he could take control of Donbas by the end of the year. This was reported by the Ukrainian leader in an interview with ABC Edition.
“The cost is years and millions of lives. And if he wants to do it faster - not one million, but 2-3 million will die,” Zelensky emphasized.
The president stressed that capturing Donbas would lead to a horrific mass tragedy and potential threats to Kharkiv.
Zelensky also noted that stopping Putin can only be achieved by taking away his weapon - energy, and further pressure on the Russian dictator is key to ending the war.
Trump and peace in Donbas
Zelensky expressed hope for the end of the conflict in Donbas and the establishment of lasting peace with the involvement of American President Donald Trump. The leader of Ukraine believes that Trump may have all the possibilities to end the war, but it is important not just to stop the war, but to achieve stability and security in the region.
“It is important not just to stop the war - yes, that is very important, - but to establish lasting peace, to achieve security,” Zelensky emphasized.
Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the possible capturing of Donbas by the Russian president and asked the international community to support Ukraine in its struggle for peace in the east of the country.
