It is important to note that Marat Askarov participated in combat operations in Afghanistan and Chechnya. At the same time, Russian athlete Anastasia Tatalina appealed to the International Ski and Snowboard Federation to allow her to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games, supporting Russia's military involvement in the aggression against Ukraine.

In her statement, Tatalina emphasized her involvement with the Russian military and expressed pride in the support from President Vladimir Putin. Her slogan 'we do not abandon our own' reflects close ties with the army.
