Ukraine’s Armed Forces Confirm Strikes on Russian Rocket Fuel Plant and Oil Refinery

Сили оборони України підтвердили удари по виробництвам пального та нафтопереробки в Росії.

Attacks Target Key Russian Industrial Sites

Robert Brovdi, commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces and known by the call sign Madyar, has verified strikes on the Tolyattikauchuk plant and the Afipsky oil refinery, carried out on June 11 and 12. The Tolyattikauchuk facility, located in the Samara region, holds particular significance because it produces 25% of all synthetic rubber in the Russian Federation. Its output is used in manufacturing components for solid rocket fuel and explosives.

The Afipsky refinery in Krasnodar Krai was attacked by drones from the 1st Separate Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces, in coordination with other units. In contrast, the strikes on Tolyattikauchuk were carried out solely by the 1st Separate Center. It’s worth noting that on June 12, drones also hit Nizhnekamskneftekhim and the Taneco refinery in Tatarstan, a region located about 1,130 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.

Robert Brovdi: 'Ukraine’s freedom-loving Bird does not strike concerts, even on Russia Day. Instead of kokoshniks with patriotic slogans, we are interested in the oil industry, rocket fuel, and rubber.'

The targets at Tolyattikauchuk and the Afipsky refinery mark the 26th and 27th items on the list of facilities designated for attack by the Unmanned Systems Forces.

Impact on Military Operations

These strikes on strategically vital sites in Russia highlight the growing activity of Ukrainian forces amid the ongoing armed conflict. They aim to dismantle infrastructure that supports military production, potentially undermining Russia’s ability to sustain its operations. These developments come against a backdrop of intensified hostilities and rising regional tensions, which could drive further escalation in the conflict.

As the Ukrainian forces continue to target critical infrastructure in Russia, the recent strikes on the Tolyattikauchuk plant and Afipsky refinery echo similar operations, such as the attack on a St. Petersburg oil terminal. These coordinated efforts not only aim to disrupt military supply chains but also reflect a broader strategy to weaken Russia's industrial capabilities.
