The Armed Forces of Ukraine are actively adapting training programs for personnel to meet the demands of modern warfare. Soldiers are undergoing adaptation courses to enhance skills in weapon use, develop moral and psychological resilience, and communicate within small tactical groups, taking into account combat experience for the future. This information is reported by 'Glavkom', obtained during a themed meeting in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Colonel Yevhen Mezhevikin, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Doctrine and Training of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, emphasized: 'The main goal of the adaptation course is to ensure the psychological resilience of servicemen for carrying out combat tasks.'
Training on Drone Defense
The adaptation course is undergone by servicemen after being assigned to a military unit, usually following basic general military training.
Particular attention is given to training on defense against enemy unmanned aerial vehicles. Colonel Mezhevikin noted that the program is constantly improved according to the situation on the battlefield. For instance, two additional days of training have been included in the basic general military training to teach servicemen how to act against enemy strike drones.
'During basic general military training, servicemen are also trained to counter hostile FPV drones using pump-action shotguns. Currently, we are introducing standard units with shotguns for combat units. There are enough resources for this. All servicemen will be trained to use these shotguns during basic general military training. This will improve the fight against enemy strike drones,' he emphasized.
- An innovative approach to quality training with a focus on practicality and current knowledge through the ongoing integration of the latest combat experience.
- Training for effective combat operations, survival, and victory, adapting to the complex tactical situation of real engagements.
- Comprehensive training on all aspects: tactics and shooting, medical assistance on the battlefield, engineering, military topography, defense against CBRN, survival skills, etc.
- Implementation of training on defense against enemy UAVs, use of reconnaissance and electronic warfare means (spectrum analyzers, scanners, UAV detectors), development of practical tactical medicine skills.
- Practical training for replacing servicemen in sections, teams, combat groups, and when using collective weapons.
The decision to conduct the Adaptation Course is made by the commander of the military unit or subdivision and bears personal responsibility for the legality of directing servicemen to special assignments without their completion.
It is worth noting that earlier components made in China were found in the 'Geran' drones (the Russian version of the 'Shahed' drone).
The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is continuously improving training programs for military personnel, providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge for successful combat operations in modern warfare conditions. Training on drone defense and other aspects of preparation are becoming increasingly relevant, helping to address complex national security and defense challenges.
