Ukrainian Forces Strike Russian Radar Systems and Supply Depots in Donetsk Region

Українські підрозділи атакують російські радіолокаційні станції та склади озброєння в Донецькому регіоні.

Drone Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Conduct Precision Strikes

The Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine's military have targeted Russian radar installations, storage facilities, and troop positions in the temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk Oblast. These attacks successfully hit a PRV-16 radar altimeter, which is used to determine the altitude of aerial targets and guide air defense systems. Additionally, a P-18 radar station—designed for early detection of aircraft, cruise missiles, and drones—was also struck.

Beyond the radar equipment, Ukrainian drones also engaged:

  • a fuel and lubricant depot;
  • an ammunition storage site;
  • temporary Russian military encampments.

The operation was carried out by operators from the 1st Separate Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces, in coordination with the Center for Deep Strikes. It is worth noting that Ukraine's defense forces are increasingly hitting Russian ground supply lines in occupied Donetsk, with targets located roughly 105 kilometers from the front line.

Ukrainian military officials emphasized that 'as a result, the enemy loses its ability to control the airspace, protect critical infrastructure, and maintain the stability of its frontline units.'

These strikes are part of a broader pattern of Ukrainian drone operations that have been increasingly targeting Russian logistics far behind the front, including near occupied Mariupol. Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) suggest that such tactics could become a key factor in enabling future Ukrainian counteroffensives.

The Strategic Role of Unmanned Systems

These actions underscore the strategic importance of drone technology in modern warfare, as it allows Ukraine to strike critical enemy assets at considerable distances. The loss of radar stations and logistical hubs can significantly impair the Russian military's ability to counter aerial threats, which in turn may alter the overall dynamics of combat operations in the region.

These recent strikes are part of a broader strategy aimed at disrupting Russian supply chains, particularly evident in operations targeting logistics near Mariupol.
