Russian Assaults in Southern Ukraine Cut in Half by Kyiv's Forces

Сили Києва значно зменшили ворожі атаки на півдні України.

Critical Slowdown in Russian Logistics

Ukrainian defense operations have caused a major disruption in Russian supply chains, leading to a sharp decline in enemy assault activity. Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, reported that systematic strikes by Ukrainian troops have severely hampered Russian logistics. As a result, the number of daily ground attacks has dropped by half—from over 50 just three to five days ago to fewer than 25 now.

Strategic Targets and Shifts in Enemy Tactics

Ukraine's military has taken control of key infrastructure, including the Chongar bridges, crossings over the North Crimean Canal, and the R-280 Novorossiya highway—the main land route for moving Russian supplies. Ground delivery of ammunition has become so difficult that the enemy is now relying more on air power. According to Voloshyn, this shift means increased use of aviation, including guided aerial bombs, to compensate for reduced artillery fire.

“The enemy has started using aviation more often because of certain logistical problems. For example, as artillery decreased, the number of guided aerial bomb strikes increased,” — Vladyslav Voloshyn.

On the Huliaipole front, Russia has rotated exhausted troops with fresh units to maintain pressure. The most active combat zones remain southwest of Huliaipole, particularly near the settlements of:

  • Charivne
  • Zaliznychne
  • Huliaipolske
  • Verkhnia Tersa
  • Omelnyk

Despite the drop in ground assaults, Russian drone strikes and artillery bombardments in the south continue at high intensity.

Voloshyn emphasized that Russia has lost any chance for a favorable end to the war, and Ukraine intends to keep striking targets on Russian soil. In a show of support, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz have pledged to ramp up military aid to Kyiv and called for an immediate ceasefire. The leaders also stressed the need for long-term security guarantees for Ukraine.

This situation highlights how critical logistics are in modern warfare—disrupting supply lines can dramatically alter an enemy's combat effectiveness. The reduction in Russian assaults may signal a tactical shift and growing strain on their resources. Continued Western military support could further tip the balance on the battlefield, making these developments especially significant for the conflict's trajectory.

While the recent decline in ground assaults is notable, it is essential to consider the broader context of enemy operations in the region. Reports indicate a resurgence of enemy activity in southern Ukraine, highlighting the ongoing volatility of the situation. Understanding these developments is crucial for grasping the complexities of the conflict and the potential implications for both sides.
